Bristolwood and Beyond

Old Silos

Today was an incredible day. And, not starting out in an entirely good way, either!

Daughter Number 1 called this morning and as we were chatting, she told me to "hang on"....her husband was calling her. I waited a few minutes and she returned. Daughter's husband called, wondering if Daughter 2 was at college today? Seemed there was a person spotted near residence halls with a gun!

I took a deep breath. Daughter was home. Safe.

We talked some more and this time, I told Daughter to wait, as I had a call trying to come in. It was the college, calling to say there was an emergency...a person was spotted with a gun on campus.

This time, a chill went up my spine. I called to Daughter 2 and asked if she had heard. Yes, she had. The college not only texted to her phone, but also sent out an email.

The phone rang again...this time saying if anyone was in a certain residence hall, they should lock the door and barracade it. Now my heart fell to my feet and I began shaking. This was too much!

A final call came from the college. This time, it announced for students to just stay inside.

After awhile, Daughter 2 came and told us the emergency was cleared. It seems a bus driver had reported seeing someone with a gun. After a thorough inspection of the building by police, it was discovered the alleged "gunman" turned out to be someone carrying an umbrella with a handle that resembled a Samurai sword handle.

All's well that ends well. Phew!

After the morning's excitement, Husband wanted to test drive a car. He is looking for a vehicle everyone can drive. So, we went to a dealership and test drove all right. Not one car. Nor two. Not three. And not even four! Yes, we tested five cars.

Needless to say, I don't especially enjoy the activity of car shopping!

On our way home, I kept my eyes out for something cool to Blip. When we passed by a pair of interseting old silos, I knew this was it! I loved how the fading sunlight shined its little "spotlight" on the structures just for me!

I had converted the photo to black and white, but decided against it. I really like the colors of the ancient wood, the rusty old metal bands, and the brilliant blue sky in the background!
