Upside Down
Dynamic and relaxing session of Strauss overtures, waltzes and polkas at the Kennedy Center, under the direction of Christoph Eschenbach (who bears an uncanny resemblance to Valdemor of Harry Potter...).
Die Fledermaus brought back images of dancing hippos (interesting how genres mix up down memory lane...) and the Blue Danube reminded me of my hometown's traditional officers ball -- a rather fancy affair with flowing gowns.
At intermission, we caught a drink in the "Israeli lounge." The pic shows the decor, as a reflection in one of the room's mirrored tables: African wood panels with brass highlights from one wall; acrylic paint and gold leaf from the ceiling -- both depicting images from the biblical era. I thought the whole thing looked sorta cool.
Happy St Patty's day (and weekend!) :))
