Rocky and Tux
Today hasn't been great for blipping so I've resorted to an indoor macro shot again.
Yesterday's Biodiversity Society AGM went okay, the guest speaker was the Hampshire County recorder for Red Kites, who gave a fascinating talk all about Red Kites and in particular the ones found in Hampshire. At the AGM, we had some volunteers from Falkland Conservation and this is where Rocky (on the left) was acquired.
On the right is sitting Tux, who is the mascot of Linux. Being an open source/free software user and advocate, I already owned Tux, who spends most of the time pinned to a fleece gilet I have.
Now I have two penguins I thought it best to introduce them. Rocky is a Southern Rockhopper Penguin (Eudyptes chrysocome chrysocome) and is a familiar sight on TV and film. Tux is a cartoon depiction of a Little Penguin (Eudyptula minor) and is less famous outside IT circles but is used all over the world powering most of the Internet, and an awful lot of the world's computerised things - not that most people notice.
