Grecian windflowers
Anenome blanda is definitely in my own personal top ten of spring flowers (don't ask me what the other nine are...)
It is such a modest and unassuming flower, ready to close up as soon as the sun goes in, but so simple and graceful. It doesn't matter if there a carpet of them or just one plant, both are equally lovely.
Having met my wife in Greece, and returned the following year for our honeymoon, we had a love affair with all things Greek, food, music , archaeology - and of course when we planted our first garden we looked for Greek plants. The choice at the time was not very extensive, so A. blanda has a starring role.
