Gold Cup
A day off is nice. A day off on Gold Cup day is nicer (although probably not as nice as actually being there). I bought food, installed the cat in a convenient position, and settled down. There was much shouting, usually caused by horses I'd backed looking like they might win and then not, but the cat is used to that by now.
It wasn't the Gold Cup we expected, but it was great. The same jockey/trainer/owner that won the Grand National in 2010 (with a horse that has an entry for 2012) - hard working to a man, and very well deserved. Not that I backed it or anything - but I've got 80% of the betting bank I started the Festival with, which is better than I usually do.
