Kaybees Bits

200 Years

It is 200 years since Dunbar got its first lifeboat.

Today this event was celebrated.

The 'new' boat was obviously there and was joined by the Anstuther one.
There are only 2 meters difference in length but there is a big difference in overall size as well as performance.

The 'new' boat is actually 6 years old and £170,000 is going to be spent on a refit so fund raising is almost at fever pitch (feel free to make a donation - just mark it for Dunbar so that it goes to the refit rather than central funds)

After that £1.5 million needs to be spent on a new boat which will go into service as a replacement whenever a boat has to be repaired/refitted etc.

Part of todays celebrations included a reconstruction of the original handing over ceremony. Several members of the fund raising committee were in period costume. The detail in the clothes was super.

I liked the way old met new at the beer tent.
