Search and Rescue

There is a new exhibition opening at the Maritime Museum tomorrow based around Search and Rescue including a SAR helicopter. A friend who is part of the CoastGuard told Ben and I about a demo that was being put on tonight on Saturday night. Then Ben's excolleague who is a lifeboatman told us the times and where to stand!

So the scenario was a boast capsized in the harbour with 2 casualties. First the CoastGuard arrived and one member of the team swam out on a line (they are the ones on the pontoon next to The Matthew who is back in town visiting again. They then called for the inshore lifeboat who then called for the all weather lifeboat who in turn called for air support from Culdrose!

It was all very exciting and the kids loved it, we followed it with Rick Steins for tea then home to finish up the more mundane bedroom tidying!
