THE KINGS SPEECH
Went to The Theatre Royal in Newcastle this afternoon to see The Kings Speech - the stage play which inspired the Oscar winning film. Good play with some excellent actors.
The Theatre Royal is on Grey Street, Newcastle. It was opened in 1837. The inside of the building was destroyed by a huge fire in 1899. It had its interior redesigned by Frank Matcham and reopened on 31 December 1901. It was closed from March last year till September and underwent a major restoration. In a typical year the theatre will have 30 to 35 visiting shows.
The weather today was sunny but a bit chilly at times. Cookie came round this morning and after a bit of food he settled down on my bed. I went out to town and left him sleeping there. When I came home he was in his own garden but came running across to greet me.
