Lock 101

A bit of sun today sandwiched between grey sky. Time to head to the canal.
At last a boat going through lock 101 on the Kennet & Avon. Now it is possible to see the unusual scalloped walls. The locks on either side have traditional straight walls, I can't find anything that explains why this was constructed like this.
The people on the boat were giving it a quick run after winter to make sure it was OK. It was interesting that while she did the gates and sluices he did the difficult job of driving the boat, I am not sure I would get away with that They had 3 dogs with them quite how they and/or the lady didn't end up in the canal as the dogs scampered by her as she crossed the lock gates I will never know.
