African Farmstead

This is fairly typical of a small African farmstead as seen in the Transkei area of South Africa, not far from where Nelson mandela was born.

The round buildings are called rondavels.

Note the garden in front growing maize and vegetables.

The family would probably also have cattle or goats, but these would be away somewhere grazing.
