Steps to everlasting rest
Bright windy afternoon had a potter round the site of St Mary's Chapel at Kilmuir on the south shore of Black Isle. There's very little remaining of the chapel now. It has long been without a roof and much of it is hidden by vegetation. The burial ground around it is still in use and well-kept by the council. These steps for getting into the walled enclosure are typical of other cemeteries in the area. The drop on the other side is about half what you see here as much of the ground inside is quite a bit above the level of the lane. There is of course a gate for use when a burial is scheduled.
