Waiting for Carnaval

Zihuatanejo is celebrating Carnaval this week. We went to the basketball court to check things out, but in true American fashion we arrived way too early. Mexican celebrations start late and go later. We got to see local musicians practicing their songs, then they covered the instruments and left the stage. We got to see the game booths, but they were not yet open for business. About the only thing functioning were the myriad food booths, but we had dinner finishing up in the oven. In the end, I got this photo of the chairs set up for the performances that were to come later this evening. It is fitting that none are occupied. That too will come later this evening when I understand it will be standing room only.
