Quintessentially English

Ok, this is more quintessentially London than quintessentially English, as compared with some of the other photos I took today.

I was very tempted to use the one of a respectable looking man on the tube, wearing a tweed cap and stylish overcoat replete with a wooden handled umbrella, who was studiously reading the Financial Times. But somehow it felt like an invasion of privacy.

Other choices included red phone boxes (is there any other city in the world that still has so many public telephones?), and double-decker buses speeding past the Oxford Circle tube stop.

But since I spent so much time criss-crossing London on the Underground today, I opted for this one.
