Live, love, laugh

Birthdayparty at work. One of the children had his birthday today. He got a big cake from the Center. Cake here is very cheap I think. This one only costs 65 yuan, which is about 7,50 in euros.
We sang the Chinese version of "Happy Birthday" for him and eat the cake. This is the child who has a mother who is an English teacher, so he came to me to say "Good afternoon, see you tomorrow". And then we took a picture together and I got a hug.

Today at work I again noticed that communication is a big problem because of the language difference. Especially in class, communicating with other teachers is hard. At a certain point one of the children crawled on my lap, which was fine by me. I always love to play with the children, hug them and hold them if they want to. One of the other teachers didn't agree though and felt the need to correct his behavior. So while I was holding him, she told him to go and sit in his chair.. After this I felt a little bit weird and didn't know what to do. No I am thinking I should have tried to communicate more with that teacher. I don't know. It's difficult.

We also had a chat with the headmaster today. Well, it was not a chat. He wrote down what he wanted to say, Kaho could read most of that and tried to translate it to English for me. And sometimes she wrote something down as well. I gave the "picto's" to the headmaster, which he was really happy to receive. He told us that they use pictures sometimes, but that these were much nicer and easier to use. He also told us that we will try to have a talk tomorrow, but that he will bring his computer to try and translate more. And the end of this "talk" he made clear to us that he thought we were very enthusiastic and smart! He said that he is also smart :P And that we try to communicate more to come to make the Autism Center better.

After work we went home. But on our own this time. The teacher we leave with was not in the schoolbus when we left.. So we had to get back on our own. The only problem was that we were not sure which bus we could take. There are more lines going back to our street, but we were only certain about one. And that one we just missed. But we took another bus and we managed to get to our street, buy dinner and walk home. We eat tomatoes, naanbread and a kind of "Bamihap".
During dinner I showed a few old Blipphoto's to Kaho and we talked about the differences in our country and culture. Did you know there is no Japanese version of "Happy Birthday"?
