Laughter

Two of the friends that I've been away this weekend, enjoying themselves in the sunshine after a lovely meal at a pub next to Tintern Abbey.

In the morning, a few of us went to view the Severn Bore - a tidal surge that sweeps up the River Severn, creating a wave that is sometimes large enough to surf on. I wasn't sure what to expect and felt quite excited as we waited by the side of the river for the tide to come in, but I have to say that although one of the waiting canoeists did manage to ride the wave for a while, it was over rather quickly and so a bit disappointing. Judging by the comments from the crowds as they dispersed, I wasn't the only one to think this. As I said to one couple standing nearby, "I could've made a bigger wave in my bath!". Not entirely true, of course, but that sums up the general mood. Glad I went though - something I've long wanted to see so I can now tick it off the list.

Most of the group had to leave the house this afternoon to get back for work tomorrow, but three of us stayed an extra night. And as we had also taken Friday off work, it really has made it seem a good break.
