Testing 300mm lens at Fairburn Ings

A great tit(?) captured at the RSPB Fairburn Ings reserve. Not very exotic but perhaps the best shot of the day.

Trying out an old Paragon 300mm M42 manual lens on my G3. The shot was handheld at ISO 400 on Shady WB. Hard to assess at BF reproduction size but the lens is just reasonably sharp, I feel. There is a bright 'ghost' around the beak which may be lens flare or may be camera shake.
There were some tripod shots which are rock steady but aren't perhaps as photogenic. They also tend to show that on this sensor the lens lacks ultimate sharpness.
