Anchor and Buoy
Maeve and I had a very nice long walk today, part of which we took past the Fishermen's huts at Westhaven. In the past few days the area in front of the huts has gone from winter stillness to an active area with the boats and gear being prepared for the season at sea.
The boat that was launched yesterday was setting off out to sea as we arrived at the Fishermen's huts, and it was loaded with creels to put in the water. I had a wander round all the gear that is being readied for the sea, and my blip today is of the biggest buoy that I saw ... easily bigger than a spacehopper. Lying in the shade of a stack of creels it was sitting on a pallet all roped up in blue nylon, ready to go when needed. Sitting next to it was an anchor with a more traditional looking rope.
I will be curious to see how much of the gear disappears in the coming days or weeks as the season gets under way.
