Confounded!

Just when I was lamenting over the use of power tools on the building site next door, I found these bricks being halved with a chisel and a lump hammer. It is much more acceptable: less noise and less dust. More what my father would have known in his bricklaying days.

PS. I saw David Hockney reading a book on a stone wall outside Waterstones in York today. I didn't speak to him and I regret it!
