Goldcrest

Apparently this little devil is Europes smallest bird, making our Wren look quite big in comparison. I spotted him this morning from the front room window, he's been back and forward for most of the day collecting little bits of moss from the lawn.

Not even very big when viewed large........

I'd like to think he was building a nest somewhere in our front hedges, but with a pair of Robins, a pair of Blackbirds, and a wagon full of Sparrows roosting in there at the moment i think it'll just too busy for this timid bird to settle.

He seemed quite happy for me to crawl down the drive to where he was busying himself under the Rhododendron.

I did get some funny looks from people walking past, but hey this is the first Goldcrest i've ever seen, and its in my front garden........!!

Well worth the crawl........!!
