Leo Loves Crudities!

Deep gloom still here from the match yesterday. And why do I read the match reports as well??

I still like rugby, though. I love the way those big burly blokes are told off nicely by the ref, and they just nod mutely and turn around and lumber off. Unlike football, where the ref risks his life in every game (from players AND fans). Why is this so? Why do football refs stand for this behavior? Also, when a rugby player doesn't get up from the ground, he's Really Hurt. No play-acting. No diving. It's a much better game. Also, I lived in New Zealand for 25 years, and you can't NOT take an interest in rugby. OK. I'll watch again next week, when we MUST beat those plucky Italians.

Gloom lifted slightly with poached eggs and muffins for breakfast. Just as well I took a photo of yesterday's beauties, as the eggs today looked like I'd dropped them. And I thought those rubbery cup thingies were infallible! If you forget to oil them, you have to hoik the eggs out, spoiling the perfect circular poach. The muffins looked great though. Toasting is easier.

Chopped loads of crudities for nibbles this afternoon. I took an AMAZINGLY good photo (and you'll have to take my word on that, he he) of the colourful plate, but as I'd done a foodie shot yesterday I didn't want anyone to get the wrong idea. Now you get the extent of my culinary expertise - using a toaster and chopping carrots...

Actually, the crudities went down well with Wee Leo, who made use of his brand new tooth by making a wee bite in every carrot and then putting it back. Sharing wee lad, he is! He also liked the dips, and managed to get his whole hand in a couple of times when the adults weren't watching carefully enough. They didn't sound very child friendly, but he's obviously got a very sophisticated palate already. Wasabi and endamame bean dip and aubergine garlicy hummous. What a boy!

Out of the many photos taken today, I decided to use the hand photo. I love wee kids' wee fingers. And how the hands are joined on to the arms. Might that hand be an artist? Or a concert pianist? Or maybe a rugby player? Actually, he'll probably be in a job that's not invented yet, as they're always telling us. If I'm still blipping in 20 years, we'll find out! Note that he had no dip on his fingers at this point.

The table is kauri, for any Kiwis out there in the bliposphere. It used to be a full sized dining table, but many years ago I got at it with a chainsaw to make a coffee table. As you do. I just didn't measure the leg lengths too carefully, so it's only a stable table on carpets.

See! I've almost forgotten about the rugby!
