Pont des Arts

Ok, I know it's a tourist shot, but it's all I have today and it is pretty, isn't it?

We picked up Th's friend (henceforth to be known as "R") at the airport this morning. She is going to be spending her March break with us. After dropping off her bags, we then took her for a walk around the Louvre, across the Pont des Arts and through the Latin quarter where we had lunch in our favourite creperie. She's pretty tired now, but is managing to stay up (so far).

Ch says that she is going to come to Paris on her honeymoon and is going to put a lock on this bridge or another one every day that she is here, to try to be sure that at least one stays. She is pretty fascinated with these locks and loves to read the names and dates on them. I find it interesting how this tradition just sprang up... when we lived here back in 1997, I don't remember there being any locks on the bridges.
