Sunday: Mirogoj Cemetery

We had heard that Mirogoj Cemetery is stunning so we took a trip out there today (well, when I say out there - it's only 2km from where we live but it is suburban, as opposed to urban) to have a look.  And we weren't disappointed!  It stretches over about 7 acres and has fantastic sculpture as well these amazing galleries.  I suspect it is going to be worth visiting any time of year.

I would also like to tell you what a positive impression K. and I have made so far.  On Friday night we were invited to a do to say goodbye to my predecessor.  We hadn't met any of the people there before.  K.'s contribution to the evening was to walk straight into a glass door, thinking it was open, resulting in a very loud bang and a greasy nose print on the glass.

Lest you think I got off scot-free, we were given a lift home by the American Ambassador's wife on whom I made a really good impression by slamming the car door in her face while she was still talking to me.......

K. is also doing well with the the the local Croatians.  The taxi driver insisted on holding her hand when driving us home last night.
