Rock Armour
Grey again today, and pretty flat light all day. So, I indulged in a little amateur photojournalism :-)
I went down to the main Carnoustie beach to have a peek at the progress in the works near the Championship Golf Course. Over the past few winters there has been some erosion, and with spring tides there has been flooding in the Barry Burn (runs through the course as some of you will know).
To combat all of this a rock armour wall is being built to shield the burn from the tide and what is left of the dunes is being protected too. More or less the whole seafront at Carnoustie from the Buddon firing ranges to the rocks in the East will now have a rock barrier facing the sea.
Today's blip shows the work in progress. It looked very dramatic. Almost as if they are removing the dunes before replacing and protecting them!
