Wheel of The Golden Sheaf

This is the wheel of the fishing vessel The Golden Sheaf which was given to my father in law, by its owner, when the boat was de-commissioned in the sixties.
It was handed down to me in the eighties and literally sat and gathered dust.
About four years ago, I decided it was to good to just rot away, so I cleaned and restored it.
I also managed to pick out the name of its makers.
This was The Tyne Metal Company Ltd from Hexam on Tyne.
After a good clean, sand down, many coats of varnish and the centre painted and the name of the maker highlighted in gold paint I hung it on the wall in the sun lounge, where it has pride of place.
The fishing boat might have long gone, but its wheel will live on for many a long year yet.
