Sewing a garden
I finished a heritage project this morning but I want to share it with the quilters who've also been working on a "black and white" project before I blip it.
So I decided to blip a picture of the other heritage item I have done.
It's behind glass so my hand is apparent in it in more ways than one.
This is the house I grew up in. My Dad was gardener here for 38 years. This stitching is based on an aerial photograph that was taken in the late summer early in the 1970s. The photo sat in my mum and dad's house for many years. I always thought that it looked like a sampler and eventually I plucked up the courage to try and interpret it in stitching. It took me 4 years and three different embroidery teachers who helped me realise my vision.
