Life thru a blippin' lens

Dalyan Mud Baths

We got up early this morning to get the bus to Dalyan. Suitcases packed and off we went. We stopped at a carpet making factory on the way, where we were shown how 'genuine' Turkish carpets were made. 3 little ladies weaving and cutting away on carpets, which take anything from 6 months to a year to complete. There were rooms full of them. Genuine Turkish carpets? Me not thinky much so! More like a huge factory in China shipping them in and out!

So it was back on the bus after the rug stop to the Mud Baths. In we went, and were taken by surprise by the fact we could float without doing anything - I have since been told this is due to the amount of salt in the pool. We got out and baked in the sun for 10 minutes, before taking a shower and heading into the Sulphur pool. I was nearly sick with the smell of it - like rotten eggs it was, but once we were in, we kind of got used to it. Sort of.

After we dried off, it was back on the bus again to be taken to a local restaurant for lunch. After lunch we headed down the river on a boat, past a couple of tomb things to Turtle Beach.

Turtle Beach was lovely. We enjoyed a couple of hours by the beach and in the sea jumping huge waves until it was time to get the boat home.

We arrived back at our room, which we had for the rest of the evening and headed out for dinner. When we got back we had a few beers down by the river before getting cleaned up and going to the airport.

We had such a nice day and really liked what we seen of Dalyan. Definitely a place to rent a villa by the river and chill we think.

In case you are wondering, the flight home was a lot quieter and less drunken than the one out there.

Can't believe that's the holiday over though. Roll on September for Spain!
