Shake the Disease

Evening all.

One of the joys of my job is i often stumble across places,paths or signs that i may never otherwise have seen, and of course, if you see a secret or undiscovered path, you have to follow it.

This blip is part of the monument to the victims of the Cholera epidemic that struck Sheffield in the 1800s, 402 people died out of 1300 affected by the illness, old,young,strong,weak,rich,poor.

Diisease appears to be a thing of indiscriminate malevolence.

I was drawn to this part of the monument as the names on the stones are those of the people who died in the outbreak, crafted and etched by the modern school children of Sheffield, and, although i'd heard of the outbreak, i had no idea there was a monument for it or where it was situated.

I do now though, and i'm glad i found it.
