Lock 101

This is part of the mechanism for operating the lock number 101 on the Kennet & Avon Canal. The lock was originally built about 1720 and widened in Victorian times. I doubt that this is original given the restoration work that has been carried out.
Even at this time of year there are boats using the canal so this lock does get used.
The lock itself is unusual in that the walls are scalloped (another blip perhaps) and one does wonder why it was built like that.
I like the different shapes and colours different from yesterday's which is obviously a museum piece.
