Telephone

This is number three in the occasional series, 'My favourite objects.' It fulfils the criteria of nostalgic significance, form, design and aesthetic appeal and utility on most counts. It was repaired by my late father- in-law who was a wizard with all things electrical. It dates from around 1930 and was manufactured by the Belgique Bell Telephone Company. It hangs on our kitchen wall and amazingly it still works. In this age of digital communication I am surprised that something of this vintage can still do the job it was intended to do.
