Sarchi is the craft centre of Costa Rica. If it's made from wood, it's made in Sarchi.
One of the symbols of Costa Rica is the ox cart, which used to be used to transport coffeee from the area to the coastal port of Puntarenas. Somebody brightened one up by painting a few colourful patterns on it and an industry was born.
This is part of the wheel of the world's biggest ox cart, which is in Sarchi's main square.
