Moon
Beautiful moon tonight - an irresistible subject for a pic.
The dark areas on the moon are called Mare (seas) - and you only get them preserved on the near side - the far side (the one we never see from our home planet) is all craters as its been in the firing line so to speak :-)
If you look at the top right, about the 1 o'clock position, theres a small dark blob on its own, that's the Mare Crisum (The Sea of Crisis), below that there are three "seas" in a row - from left to right these are Mare Serenitatis, Mare Trauilitatis and Mare Fecunditatis - Serenity, Tranquility and Fertitilty.
The first man walked on the moon on 20th July 1969, the last on 13th December 1972.
