Mayan ruins on a rainy day
Backblip Honeymoon Day 8
Before we went to Mexico the weather forecast said there would be a bit of rain. We thought this would maybe be a few tropical storms that would be over quickly. Not solid, pouring, torrential rain from 7am to 2pm like today! Actually, no it stopped once and we chanced going out for a look. We ended up trapped within view of the bar but not quite close enough to get a drink, while sheltering from some of the heaviest rain we'd ever seen!
We waited it out for the morning and as it became a drizzle we decided that rather than waste the day we'd go to visit the Mayan ruins of Tulum just down the coast from our hotel.
Thankfully our risk paid off and the sun came out while we were there. Very impressive site, very picturesque almost quaint ruins with a lovely beach below. Obviously the obligatory iguanas too.
Lovely meal in the Italian restaurant, followed by a few more pina coladas for LH :)
