Looking left
Lovely weather in Edinburgh today.
I took a few snaps on the way to a conference at the Museum for Scotland, thinking I would never need them because I would get a better shot in the museum.
But, as it turned out there was much talking to do and not much time for blipping so you have one of my back-up shots.
But now I look at it on the screen this shot seems interesting enough to me, taken on North Bridge, looking left past the memorial towards St Andrews House.
I worried - on the train back with a colleague - that perhaps it wasn't appropriate to use a photo of a war memorial without knowing the background.
But (wikipedia to the rescue) this is a memorial to soldiers of the King's Own Scottish Borderers killed towards the end of the 20th century. Its by sculptor William Birnie Rhind.
