Birthday orchid

This orchid was given to me by my mother in November 2010. It has flowered several times, but not continuously. When it is not in flower, it lives on a north facing windowsill in our tiny utility room.
It has been so windy today that my basic camera could not cope with outdoor shots - too many branches and trees waving about, so I took this as the sun was going down, and quite like the way the sunlight is shining through the petals.
This is my third day! already this blog is changing the way I think about the day...camera in pocket, looking out for opportunities while I walk the dog, carry out everyday tasks, go out in the village. And making me more critical of each picture too, which is great!
