Qal'at al -Bahrain

I went along to the see fellow blippers photographs that are being exhibited at a Arts and Cultural show that started today. Her pictures looked amazing, all nicely framed, which inspired me to try and go through my thousands of pics and find a few to frame for our new house! While I was in the area I popped up to the beach and fort as it's such a lovely spot. Ambled around trying to take some really arty pics of old and new, but wasn't too impressed with them. My birds always come out far better!

Here's some bumph on the Bahrain Fort for those Historians:

The archaeological finds unearthed in the fort reveal much about the history of the country. The area is believed to have been occupied for some 5000 years and contains a valuable insight into the copper and Bronze Ages of Bahrain. [4] The first Bahrain Fort was built around three thousand years ago, on the northeastern tip of Bahrain Island. The present fort dates from the sixth century CE.[5] The capital of the Dilmun civilization, Dilmun was known as the "land of immortality" and the ancestral place of Sumerians, a place where the Gods met.
