R.I.P.

10 years ago Lizzie was given two lemon trees for her birthday which we planted in two giant pots on either side of the front door. They have struggled through heat, drought, cold and insect attack until, last year, they finally came into their magnificent own.

Before this winter's big freeze we bandaged them both in yards and yards of fleece. We've been hoping against hope for a sign of life but it's not to be. They stood just 6 feet apart, yet only one them survived. Thousands of citrus trees have perished this winter. It's such a shame.
