Under the Theatre.

So today I was privileged to see & experience a hidden part of Lyme Regis.
Now it's is not that exciting but under the floor of the Marine Theatre in Lyme are three vaulted rooms .The history is a little unclear but at one point there were water heaters there (remains still there).
There is some water leaking in and some small stalactites!(top left)
The wall on the right with the large blocks is the original outside wall and would have had the sea pounding it during storms.
Before it became the Theatre the site had a Bath house.
I am a volunteer at the theatre ,not every one supports it as it is not easy to keep going without financial help, but it is one of Lymes assets with a lot of history and hopefully a lot more to come.
