Some Days

Lark Home

The salt-marsh, Belhaven Bay, East Lothian.

I often wander down here (about 1.5km from home) to listen to the skylarks, although it is still a bit early in the year for them to sing on cold days like today. A bit later in the breeding season and they sing whatever the weather!

The collective noun for skylarks is an exaltation, and it is very apt, the songs blending together are so joyful!

(I know that they are in fact competing, and it is only the males showing off their fitness to breed, but it still gets me right there!)

No larks today, but soon.

Thanks for all the good wishes and kind comments on yesterday's 200. It really means a lot to me

My usual camera is not well. When are they going to bring out bouncy cameras? I'm quite pleased with this picture from the Nikon Coolpix S2500 that came as a surprise free gift with our new stereo, I will probably persevere with it until I get the Sony DSLR fixed
