Arbroath Abbey

This is Arbroath Abbey which was founded in 1178 by a group of Benedictine monks. It is most famous for its connection to The Declaration Of Arbroath which was signed at the abbey in 1320 and declared Scotland's status as an independent sovereign state. On Christmas Day 1950 The Stone of Destiny was stolen from Westminster Abbey, 15 months later the stone was found on The Abbey's Altar. It stands out as an important piece of Scottish history.
