Street archaeology

This somewhat sorry-looking garage still does a thriving trade despite looking the way it does.

The phone numbers on the signs date them as being pre-1990, I'm guessing the paint is that old too and that colour has probably gone in and out of style every five years or so since.

I often wonder about the economics of small businesses like this. They must surely own the building outright or it would by now have been converted into a design company or pilates studio like the rest in the street. But if they own the building why not do some maintenance more often than 25-yearly?
