At either ends of the spectrum
These two bottles not only differed in content but were treated completely differently too.
The Tobermory was a gift from my sister and her husband and took me almost 2 years to drink, usually I'd have a wee measure late at night if the day had been particularly stressful. As malts go the Tobermory is a fine example, not very complex, and certainly not as smokey as it's Islay neighbours but a gold standard in a nice, clean, crisp taste, very nice indeed.
The rum on the other hand didn't even make day 2, my flatmate and I had a couple of pals over and got "wrapped in aboot it" as they say. Many hours and many cd's later my flatmate emerged from the kitchen forlorn clutching the empty bottle, oops was all I could say really. As Rum's go, this one is passable, not as fine as Havana Club 7 but it's no Brugal either, 2 litres of Coke and a half dozen limes certainly helped.
Can you guess how we're feeling today?
