Could be anywhere....
......well, anywhere in Surrey, another sun-on-its-way-out-peaking-through-clouds-silhouetting-the-odd-tree shot. Sorry, but it's been one of those days.
The thing about writing is that sometimes you have to back off and find things out, some of which you'll never use. So most of the morning was spent writing a lengthy email to a chap who helped me with a bit of research and then finding out about various people who lived in the 1930s such as Elinor Glyn responsible for the original "it" girl (although some say it was Rudyard Kipling).
There was a little poem about her:
Would you like to sin
With Elinor Glyn
On a tiger skin?
Or would you prefer
To err with her
On some other fur?
Her sister, Lady Duff-Gordon also known as Lucile, a dress designer, was on the Titanic in 1912 when it struck the iceberg and she and her husband, Sir Cosmo Duff-Gordon were on the first boat off. It only carried 12 survivors and crew and the lady was more worried about losing some of her dresses than the plight of her fellow passengers.
And that's how a day goes. Gill was working, the dogs were getting restless, so I walked them over the golf course. I'm sure I could have improved this but it's hard when you have two dogs in tow. Oh and Gill's here now and I haven't made anything to eat.
