Fruiting Bodies
No, this is not a new rock band, it refers to the orange blob which is the fruiting body of dry rot.
Where is it? In the roof of our temporary accommodation onsite at Dunans. We have recently put a new roof on the building as we knew there were problems with the original. Only when we removed the ceiling did we see just how bad it had got.
The treatment is a combination of letting the wood dry out, treating it with a water-based fungicide and then stabilising it with a preservative.
And why did it get to this stage? Well, because we were awaiting the relevant permissions which we applied for early last year and which we still haven't received. Frankly I am glad we acted when we did!
