Weather bomb hits us on Desert Road

The Desert Road is a lovely place some days, with views of the mountains. Today it was hideous with torrential rain. You could have surfed on Lake Taupo.

I am glad Dave was driving this stretch. He is feeling much better thank goodness.

We drove from Waihi Beach through to Wellington. The weather was again really bad coming into the Wellington area. Everyone was driving sensibly. Saw Kariba and Zane and went to "Chow" for dinner which was delicious. Lovely night's sleep at the Jame Cook.
