View of the Forth

Hamish and I went to the 12 o'clock service at Holy Trinity in St Andrews. I admit my attendance is rare, but it's always such a joyful experience, and I was captivated for an hour or so.

We then joined some friends for lunch to celebrate a recent birthday. We ate the most delicious sausages and mash with cabbage and parsnips. Our pudding was a dreamy chocolate cake which had 12 candles on top.

Afterwards, we walked around the garden - one of the loveliest imaginable.

All in all, a pretty much perfect day.

It was difficult to decide which photo to choose as there were several possibilities. This was taken at 2 o'clock with the sun shining into the lens, creating a deep and dramatic contrast.
