We had a birthday visit today from an old (in more ways than one) friend called Kevin. Naturally we had to sing to him and offer him a cake with candles.

I met Kevin in 1971 in the Export Shipping Department of Rowntrees in York. It was a primitive working environment. But in adversity we forged a bond that has lasted.

Kevin's quote of the day is, "Oh no, it's sleeting!" Which is how we will remember this day - the day it snowed in March 2012!
