Cricket

This is my Uncle Bertram, thats what it says on his certificates from the days of Council work, I know him as Bert.
He is 91 lives in sheltered housing just by the station and was a stalwart for Clitheroe CC.
This was us walking to the supermarket and having a break.
We chatted about cricket and an animation hitherto lacking came to our chat.

"You still playing?"
"Aye"
"The thing to remember is at our level, they will always bowl some off the line of the stumps, that's where the runs are."

Nothing sage about that tip, but the fact he still recognised the level we play at.

My dad had to take his arm as we walked, brothers understanding the structure of age and reliance.

Bert showed me how to hold a cricket bat when I was six.
