Granton United Church

We were down in Granton this afternoon to attend a service for the dedication of the new building of Granton United Church in which the City of Edinburgh Methodist Church choir sang the anthem 'Locus Iste' by Bruckner.

The congregation is a united church of Methodist and United Reformed, formally established on 25th August 2004. The Methodist church was demolished and in its place a rebuild undertaken providing purpose-built premises for congregational and community use alongside a small development of flats and houses, owned and managed by a local Housing Association.

Several artefacts from the uniting churches are in use in the sanctuary as a gesture to their congregations, and in an office there is a brick from the original building, retained as a souvenir.
