A hive of activity

This afternoon it got really warm and felt like a pleasant spring day. The honey bees seem to respond very sensitively to the ambient temperature - as soon as it got over a certain point they all came out and started basking on the warm surfaces before going off foraging for pollen. And many brought some back, which was great to see. Hopefully the colony has wintered well and can start spring running so that we can take some honey this autumn.
