I saw a piece on the BBC website this morning about how these were constructed, so I thought I'd pop into Hartlepool Museum and blip the specimen that resides in its cabinet of curiosities. I noticed that Herman the Merman has a friend in there (end of tail just visible on the left) whom I would have called Ethel, if asked.
